Business Days Calculator
Count the working days between two dates, or find the next business day, for any of 204+ countries. Weekends and public holidays are excluded automatically.
How the calculation works
Every date in the range is checked against two rules. First, is it a weekend day in the country you picked? Second, is it a nationwide public holiday there? Days that pass both checks are business days. Both endpoints are included, so a Monday to Friday range counts as five.
The weekend is not the same everywhere. Most countries rest on Saturday and Sunday, but Egypt, Algeria, Bangladesh, Iraq and others across the Middle East and North Africa rest on Friday and Saturday, which shifts every count by a day or more over a long range. Picking a country sets the right weekend for you, and you can override it in the weekend panel if your own organisation works differently.

Public holidays in 2026
Looking for the holiday list rather than a count? Each country has a year-by-year page listing every public holiday with its date, weekday and whether it is observed nationwide or only regionally.
Common questions
- What counts as a business day?
- A business day is any day a country normally works. That means excluding its weekend, which is Saturday and Sunday in most of the world but Friday and Saturday across much of the Middle East and North Africa, and excluding nationwide public holidays. This calculator applies both rules using each country own working week.
- Are the start and end dates included?
- Yes. The range is inclusive of both dates you enter, so counting from a Monday to the Friday of the same week gives five business days. The breakdown under each result shows the total days, weekend days and holidays so you can see exactly how the figure was reached.
- Are regional holidays excluded?
- No. Only nationwide public holidays reduce the count, because a holiday observed in one state or province is a normal working day elsewhere in the country. Regional holidays are still listed on each country holiday page, labelled with how many regions observe them.
- What happens when a public holiday falls on a weekend?
- It does not reduce the business day count twice. The day is already excluded as a weekend day, so the holiday is reported but not double counted. Countries that shift such holidays to the following Monday, like the United Kingdom and the United States, have that substitute day in the holiday data itself.
- How current is the holiday data?
- Holiday dates are refreshed every 24 hours and cover roughly 50 years either side of the current year. Dates set by lunar observation or by government decree can still change at short notice, so confirm anything legally significant against an official source.
